Omah Lay unfollowed me on Twitter after he got popular. Three years later, and I’m still pissed.

If you knew me in 2019, you’d remember how I used to preach the gospel of Omah Lay. I listened to him while I was sleeping, and eating, and studying, and sleeping again (sorry I sleep a lot). Every single time. When he got mainstream, of course I was happy for this young man I’d been rooting for, but I can’t lie, I had mixed feelings. I’d go out, and hear people playing You, and in my head, I’d be screaming “WHY ARE Y’ALL LISTENING TO MY SONG?”

But he got popular and unfollowed me on Twitter. And I was like “???” I’d been following him from his days of 900 followers. Lol. I’m so pained I still talk about it in 2023. I’m even more pained that this anger I feel never overshadows my love for his music.

It’s undeniable that Omah Lay released one of the best albums in Nigeria in 2022. Boy Alone is so beautiful and got me through some of my hardest moments last year. I hope he finds peace though. And the first step towards that could be him not having sex with his next therapist.

From I’m a mess, to Soso, to Never forget: it’s all hits and no misses. If you haven’t listened to that masterpiece, you definitely should check it out and experience greatness.

Omah Lay recently announced on his Instagram story that he’d be releasing a deluxe to his first studio album, Boy Alone. I speak for everyone when I say we can’t wait for it. We all know he likes Wizkid, but fingers crossed he doesn’t move like that Ojuelegba guy by releasing it two years from now.

One take from this article is that you should date people with good music tastes. My ex introduced me to Omah Lay years ago, and I’ve never looked back. Not from the ex obviously (izzzz goneeeee).

Thank you for reading and don’t forget to check out Boy Alone!
