Ckay has been one of Africa’s biggest exports this decade, amassing an impressive array of achievements and accolades that firmly establish him as a force to be reckoned with in the global music scene. From being honored as the Biggest African music exporter to winning a prestigious Brits award, Ckay’s rise to fame shows no sign of slowing down. With his unique sound he tags as emo-afrobeat, he has earned widespread acclaim and admiration from fans all over the world.

As Africa’s unrivalled boyfriend, CKay in partnership with Red Bull hosted an exclusive intimate night with his fans on Valentine’s Day, treated the guests to a really good time with lots of drinks (loved it!), music, couple games, and some fun activities hosted by the UK’s very own, Mimi the music blogger.

Here, I had a little chat with him about his career and prospective collabs.

BD: Your performance was electrifying. What did you think of the audience?

Ckay: It was amazing. It was good energy. I haven’t performed in London in about a year, so it felt good to be back.

BD: You’re the first African Brand ambassador for Ralph Lauren, huge feat! Other than music, what creative avenues do you want to explore?

Ckay: Yeah, I’m really an all-round creative. I’d say visual art. I used to draw really well so I like visual art a lot, I like fashion a lot also, but it’s one step at a time, we’d see where this journey takes us.

BD: Hallelujah was a hit! Another collab with Blaqbonez soon?

Ckay: Yes. I hope so. We have lots of songs already, it’s just a matter of when it drops and when he’s ready.

Do you think anyone would be dropping this year tho?

We’ll see. (👀)

BD: Your dad was in the choir. Would you join the choir if asked?

CKay: So my dad was in the choir but I wasn’t. I’ve never been the biggest fan of the choir. I mean I like listening to them but I don’t think I fancy being in one. I see myself doing a performance with a choir backing me up though. I think that would be sick.

BD: What song would you play to kickstart a party?

Ckay: *starts singing the lyrics to Hallelujah* Me too, Ckay. Me too.

To kickstart the new year, he released a 2-pack single tagged Is it you/ Mysterious Love, with catchy hooks and ear candy lyrics.

As Ckay moves forward in his career, one thing is crystal clear: his star is soaring, and the world is buzzing with anticipation. I will be there no matter what, so should you! 🫵🏽
